AN ANNALYIS OF SPATIAL AND TEMPORAL DEIXIS FOUND IN THE MOVIE THE HATEFUL EIGHT

The result of the research indicates three hundred and twenty seven deixis can be found in total. To narrow it down, the writer divided all the data based on the movie chapter. In chapter I scene, the analysis shows the result based on 11 dialogues which contains 54 deixis combined. 29 spatial deixis, and 25 temporal deixis. In chapter II scene, the result analysis indicates 26 deixis combined taken from 5 dialogues found. It contains 15 spatial deixis, and 11 temporal deixis. Moving to chapter III scenes, the result shows there are 127 deixis can be found. The samples are taken from 16 dialogues. 69 data belong to spatial deixis, and 58 data belong to temporal deixis. Jumping in to chapter IV scene, there are 36 data of deixis can be found from 6 dialogues. 20 data belong to spatial deixis, and 16 belong to temporal deixis. The next result is from chapter V scene. The result of analysis indicates there are 36 deixis found in this particular scene. The samples are taken from 4 dialogues available. The result indicates 21 spatial deixis, and 15 temporal deixis. From the last chapter, or chapter VI scene, the writer found 48 deixis in total, taken from 6 dialogues. Specifically, 28 data belong to spatial deixis, and 20 data belong to temporal deixis. After conducting all the data from the entire scenes, from chapter I to VI, the writer found 47 dialogues which contains 327 deixis in total. Spatial deixis are the dominant ones in the movie which contains 182 data. In the meantime the total amount of temporal deixis can be found are 145. All the data are selected from the beginning of the movie until the credit scene with duration 168 minutes.References
