AN ANALYSIS OF SLANG USED IN RIHANNA’S INSTAGRAM ACCOUNT @BADGALRIRI

Abstract

Slang is part of the language for communicating in non-formal situations. This study focused on identifying the slang used in Rihanna's @badgalriri Instagram account in terms of the types of slang and the meaning of the slang used. The method of this research is qualitative methods. The finding and result shows that there are four types of slang used and found in Rihanna's Instagram account @badgalriri Abbreviation, Shortened form, funny mispronunciation, and interjection. The meaning of slang in this study is the denotative meaning and connotative meaning. It can be a connotative meaning depending on the context.
