AN ANALYSIS OF SIMILE IN FAIRYTALE BY PETER CHRISTEN ASBJORNSEN AND JORGEN MOE

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to identify different type of Simile Found in Fairy Tale by Peter Christen Asbjornsen and Jorgen Moe.this research is determined the type of simile and meaning. This research uses a qualitative method to identify this research,as well as several data collection technique, analyzing the data and make a conclusion. The data comes from Fairy Tale by Peter Christen Asbjornsen and Jorgen Moe. The data is from the sentence from the fairy tale. The types of Simile that are found in Fairy Tale by Peter Christen Asbjornsen and Jorgen Moe is Open Simile and Close Simile. The results of this study showed that there are 3 Open Simile and 47 Close Simile, which are the most dominant used is Close Simile.the use of simile in fairy tale is to make the story more interesting and more enjoyable, then it can develope critical thinking especially in open similes.
