Abstract

Padang City is located in a disaster-prone area, where flooding occurs due to rainy weather and rising sea levels. The Koto Tangah Kecematan area, specifically Batang Kabung Ganting Village, is one of the numerous points in the city that frequently experiences flooding. This is due to the low-lying nature of the area and the presence of swamps behind residents' houses filled with garbage and surrounded by sewers. During heavy rains, the swamps overflow, leading to water inundating the surrounding settlements. Implementing an adaptive concept is suitable for these flood-prone areas, allowing for the design of buildings that can adapt to the environment. One potential addition is a bridge connecting the buildings. The design process should consider the activities of residents during flooding and non-flooding periods. The objective is to create residential buildings that can accommodate residents during floods by designing vertical housing, such as houses on stilts, to adapt to flood disasters and the needs of the residents.
