Abstract

The aim of this study was to examine the role of organizational commitment as intervening variable on
the relationship between organizational support, organizational climate and organizational citizenship
behavior. The study’s population was the employees of Community Health Centers in Sungai Penuh
City. The number of usable sample was 212 respondents using proportional random sampling. In
terms of testing the hypotheses, the study performs multiple, simple and hierarchical regression
analyses. The results of analysis displayed that first; organizational support and organizational
climate positively and significantly influence both organizational citizenship behavior and
organizational commitment. Second, organizational commitment was found to have positive and
significant effect on organizational citizenship behavior. Third, organizational commitment was
proven to play an intervening variable on the relationship between organizational support,
organizational climate and organizational citizenship behavior. The study’s findings suggested to
increase organizational commitment of employees through creating organizational support and
organizational climate.
